Welcome to Gasthof Simony

Today’s Gasthof Simony was built and first mentioned in a document in the 15th century as a Salzherrentheater. The  Wolfengasse, in which our house is located, is still named after its builder, the Wolfen family.

Since the decline of the salt paver family, the building has been run as a guest house. The vaults on the ground floor were able to be preserved during the fire disaster in 1750; the first and second floors were rebuilt.

In 1882 the ancestors of the Scheutz-Höplinger family acquired the property and converted it into an inn.  The famous Dachstein researcher Friedrich Simony always stayed in the house of the Klackl family during his research trips to Hallstatt. In his honour, the business was first renamed into “Simonyhütte” and finally into “Gasthof Simony”.

Enjoy your breakfast in our garden near Lake Hallstatt!

Located in the middle of the historic town centre, Gasthof Simony and the garden on the lake represent a place of tranquillity from which Hallstatt and its surroundings can be explored.

Enjoy the wonderful location, directly on Lake Hallstatt, with the opportunity of bathing in the middle of Hallstatt, in a picturesque alpine setting.

As a culinary tip, we recommend our main building, the Bräugasthof on Seestrasse, with its wonderful garden on Lake Hallstatt and the 150-year-old chestnut tree – less than a 2 minutes’ walk.

We look forward to welcome you as our guests!

Ms. Susanna Scheutz worked in her parents’ company until she took over in 1977.

Her niece, Ms. Verena Lobisser, has been running the Gasthof Simony since 2013.

Our rooms are furnished in old German and Biedermeier style or in regional stone pine.

Some of the rooms have a fantastic view of the lake and the large oriel rooms offer a wonderful view of the medieval market square and the baroque tower of the Catholic parish church.

A rich breakfast buffet awaits you in the morning – you can of course also enjoy your breakfast in our unique guest garden directly on Lake Hallstatt.

Our rooms can be booked all year round.

Enjoy all the picturesque seasons in the Salzkammergut!

In order to increase the recreational value of your stay, we recommend that our guests arrive by train and boat, as there are no parking spaces available in the small world heritage site.

Paid parking spaces are located outside the centre.  You can find information about parking here: www.  hallstatt.net

We recommend: Please park at the P1 car park (behind the petrol station).  The price of the parking fee includes a free shuttle service (currently between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.) on arrival directly to our front door and on departure back to P1.
